Are you looking for cheap wedding centerpieces but you don’t want them to look cheap? It is not hard to have cheap wedding centerpieces that look like you blew a good chunk of your wedding budget on them. By planning and buying throughout the year prior to the wedding you can make cheap wedding centerpieces yourself!
Floral Wedding Centerpieces
There seems to be some consensus that if you want flowers and you want cheap wedding centerpieces then those flowers must be fake. This is very untrue and could actually cost you more depending on the flowers you choose and the climate you live in. First, look at your climate and the time of year you plan to have your wedding. If you are having a Christmas wedding have poinsettias, do not decide you have to have daisies. If you are having a June wedding then use flowers that are growing best at that time such as lilacs or lilies. The best way to have real flowers and pay very little is to say no to your local florist and say yes to your own green thumb (or your mom’s, or your grandmother’s). Growing your own flowers can allow you to have a large amount of flowering plants and greenery. For a cheap wedding centerpiece using flowers, grow your own then place them in low glass vases in the center of each table. This will not only add pops of color throughout your reception but they will also add a pleasant aroma.
Cheap Wedding Centerpieces with Peas
You may be thinking peas are not what first come to mind when you think wedding, much less cheap wedding centerpieces, but filling a glass vase with dried peas is quite stunning. After filling the vase or glass with dried peas then place a candle down in the middle. You will be amazed at the elegance of your wedding reception when the candles are lit and the green of the peas are a great color addition to a summer or fall reception.
Candles as Wedding Centerpieces
Everyone knows that when the lights are turned down and candle light is reflecting off the walls that even the worst room can look warm and inviting but candles can get very expensive, especially the kind that don’t let off toxic fumes. One way to add candles and still have cheap wedding centerpieces is to buy throughout the year prior to your wedding. By buying throughout the year you can find sales or spread out your buying so that you are not spending a hundred dollars on candles in one swoop. Float smaller candles (which are cheaper) in water which gives a great sparkly affect or you could buy one large candle and decorate the candle with twigs or flowers from your own yard.
Wedding Cakes as Wedding Centerpieces
Not only are centerpieces expensive but so is the wedding cake, so instead of having them separate make the cake the centerpiece. The best way to do this is to have a very small cake made for the bride and groom to cut, then place cupcakes in the center of each table as cheap wedding centerpieces! Cupcakes can be placed on a cupcake stand or even a simple plate with flowers placed in and around the cupcakes to jazz it up even more.
It is possible to have beautiful and cheap wedding centerpieces that will make your wedding reception beautiful and have people talking about your reception for years afterwards. No one will even know that your frugal living begins before you are even married!
