Frugal Taco Salad Recipe with Dairy Free Substitutions

This is one of my favorite recipes, possibly because it has sour cream in it and since I found dairy free sour cream I’ve become a bit obsessed with it. Try working your family into using a full pound of ground turkey, instead of 1/2 turkey and 1/2 ground beef which will save you even more money. Taco meat, in general, for a taco salad can go farther than if you were using the meat to fill a taco shell so I often use the leftovers from this meal to make a taco soup to freeze for later or for lunches that week!
*All of my recipes can be used with dairy or made into dairy free recipe versions. I have a milk allergy while my husband does not so I often try to make recipes in which substitutions can be made either way. My recipes are also made to be as frugal as possible.
Frugal Taco Salad Recipe
Gather It Up!
1/2 pound hamburger
1/2 pound ground turkey
taco seasoning packet or homemade taco seasoning
green onions
lettuce
kidney beans
whole kernel corn
hard taco shells or tortilla chips
sour cream (dairy or non dairy)
cheese (dairy or non dairy)
Cook It Up!
Brown meat in a pan. Add taco seasoning mix according to package directions. Cut up veggies.
Serve It Up!
I break the taco shells into smaller pieces and make them the first layer. I then add the lettuce, meat, corn, beans, cheese, onions, and sour cream in whatever order I come to the item!

This is very nutricious dish and i thank you taking special interest in highlighting the dairy free option, thank you so much for that.
