Green Bean Casserole – Dairy Free

You just can’t have Thanksgiving without green bean casserole but I did for many years until my mom came up with a dairy free version. You can easily make this dairy free or dairy laden just by changing a few steps.
Frugal Tips for Green Bean Casserole
Whether you are making the dairy free green bean casserole version or not you can make this a frugal side dish by purchasing the ingredients ahead of time as you find them on sale.
*All of my Thanksgiving green bean casserole recipes can be used with dairy or made into dairy free recipe versions. I have a milk allergy while my husband does not so I often try to make recipes in which substitutions can be made either way. My green bean casserole is also made to be as frugal as possible.
Dairy Free Green Bean Casserole
Gather It Up
2 cans french style green beans
1 can cream of mushroom soup or dairy free cream of mushroom soup
french fried onions
Cook It up!
Mix soup in with green beans that have been drained. If using the dairy free version you kind of have to guess how little or how much you need since it doesn’t come in a nice little can! Layer the top of the green bean casserole with the french fried onions. You can mix some of the french fried onions in the casserole if you’d like as well. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
Serve It Up!
Serve it with your Thanksgiving dinner of course! But it does make a good side dish any other time of the year as well.
