Quit working!

Not completely of course! Though, it is important to take time for yourself. When working from home I find that a lot of people, myself included, become obsessed. You spend every waking hour of the day working, trying to find new work, working, keeping up with blogs or websites, hitting a few forums, working, laundry, making meals, cleaning the house, working, keeping track of payments, and of course, working. Needless to say you get burnt out! Then the car breaks down or you catch the stove on fire or the dog needs to go to the vet and you keep working.
Last May I decided to take the summer off and quit working on a few of my larger projects. I, by no means, quit working but there were nights I shut down the computer to watch a movie with my husband or happily agreed to outings instead of thinking of the work I was missing. Since I began working on my larger projects again I am finding that those nights off have again begun to dwindle.
I used to paint and I have recently had an urge to pick up a paint brush again. Tomorrow I will set up my easel and dust it off. I hope to set aside at least one afternoon a week to just paint and let whatever doesn’t get done that afternoon go.
It will be difficult as quitting any addiction is but I need it and so do you. If you find that you are working twenty-four-seven add some personal time to your schedule. Throw some paint on a canvas, take your dog on a walk, or go out to dinner with your husband. Then come back and tell me you did so that I have a support system around me of people who are also taking time to enjoy the life we are working so hard for.
