Who doesn’t like meatballs? Oh, right, my husband. And vegetarians. And probably plenty of other people as well but let’s just pretend we live in a world where everyone loves meatballs! I know I do!
Frugal Tips for Meatballs
If your family will let you, use all ground turkey for the meatballs, if not then at least use half ground turkey and half ground beef to save money. Purchase on sale and freeze.
*All of my dinner recipes can be used with dairy or made into dairy free recipe versions. I have a milk allergy while my husband does not so I often try to make recipes in which substitions can be made either way. My dinner recipes are also made to be as frugal as possible.
Meatballs
Gather It Up!
1/2 pound of ground beef
1/2 pound of ground turkey
1/4 cup shredded or finely chopped carrot
1/4 cup shredded or finely chopped celery
1/4 cup shredded or finely chopped onions
garlic to taste
basil and oregano to taste
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 1/2 tablespoon dijon mustard
Cook It Up!
Mix all of the ingredients together. Pinch off a small amount and roll into a ball. Do this until the entire mixture is made into balls. Place a small amount of oil in a pan and fry meatballs until done or place in oven at 375 degrees until cooked through.
Serve It Up!
Use the meatballs in many different dishes such as spaghetti, meatballs in barbecue sauce, Swedish meatballs, meatballs and pasta, or just to eat! Flash freeze what you aren’t eating that day then place in a Ziplock bag and thaw as needed!

I love meatballs and use to make them all the time. This reminds me that I have turned my back on a longtime favorite of mine. Guest what we’re having for dinner? Yeah that’s right, MEATBALLS!
I’m glad you liked it, Shirley! I only had my first meatball a few years ago so I’m trying to make up for all those years without!
Meatballs rock, I had my first meatballs on a trip to italy. Looks like a great recipe!
