Just when we think we are done remodeling we decide to redo the whole thing again!
Here is what we started with . . .
And we went here as quick as we could . . .
and replaced the floors with tile laminate, painted the walls a warm red to cover the horrible flower wallboard, and added some decor. The decor on the wall consists of a table runner with a glass vase filled with turquoise stones and flowers placed on top of it. The antique plate above the vase was given to me by my mom for Christmas one year.
That wasn’t enough so we . . .
took out the small center island and replaced it with the large island that the hubby’s parents built for us. We also stained the gold cabinets much darker to update the look of the kitchen.
And then I got sick of the red and decided to . . .
go green. We also traded our table and chair set for my sister’s table and chair set. Both of us got a new dining set that better matched each of our homes and decor and we didn’t have to spend a dime! I used an antique table behind the dining set to our fire extinguisher lamp and several pots of our plants, including the plant in the gravy bowl.

The new kitchen looks AMAZING, I love the new wall design instead of that flowered wallpaper. Sleek and modern – gorgeous. Did it set you back a lot?

Kayla – I should have added the cost estimate to the article! I traded out the laminate for work on http://www.mccallsfloormart.com, the paint was about $60 each time (that was a lesson in picking a color that you will like for several years! Ha!), $40 for the sheers, about $8 for the can of stain for the cabinets, and $40 for the new cabinet handles. The curtains and decor all came from other parts of my house or my mom’s house. I’d say about $208. Would have been less if I had picked the green paint first!
The remodeling surely looks great. Much beautiful than before. Great improvement guys..

Very nice design! I really like it!
That thing over the stove looks like a chandelier! What is it? Very cozy kitchen, great work!
Tebutik – Do you mean over the sink? That’s a great curtain I got from my mom when she redid her kitchen (it has tassles). I thought it looked kind of old for me but once it was up I loved it!
Hi, have you done anything to your bathroom? I am considering tearing out my bathroom completely to the bare bones and then sheetrocking and tileing the entire room…including shower area and ceiling. If I have a tile guy that knows his business I think it might work. what do you think?
Beverley – We have done both of our bathrooms! I need to get pics up of them. We basically replaced all of the floors, took a garden tub out and put a new shower, cabinets, sinks, toilet, and pipes in our master bath and replaced virtually everything in the hall bath. We haven’t done the ceiling in any rooms but if we were staying here long term I would definitely be tearing more walls and floors out, since we plan on moving this year we have pretty much cup back on the remodeling!
